About Us

Excel Taekwondo is the leading provider of martial arts instruction for kids, adults, and families in Canoga Park, CA. All martial arts instructors at Excel Taekwondo Center are trained to ensure that our martial arts classes are safe, effective and fun.

Our instructors focus on more than just teaching martial arts skills. Emphasis is put on encouragement and positive correction. We tailor our teaching methods to fit the individual student.

We are committed to teaching the physical skills of martial arts while applying attitude-shaping exercises aimed at bringing out the best character and physical potential in each student. Through weekly martial arts training, instructors advance their own martial art and educational knowledge to become even more effective martial arts teachers.

The Excel Taekwondo Center instructors are required to maintain their personal level of martial arts knowledge and a high level of personal growth. They are expected to take classes on a regular basis and test at least once per year.

Our school is one of the premier martial arts training facilities in the nation. We want our students to enjoy a clean, safe and spacious facility. We use Olympic level flooring, modern equipment, and custom design our centers with the comfort of our students and their families in mind.

Our Instructors

When selecting instructors we select outstanding men and women who have both a high level of martial arts skills and a passion for sharing them with others. We are confident that while watching any of our staff in action that you will see that our instructors love what they do!

Our team of instructors are led by Mr. Ulysses G. Marcelino and Mrs. Catherine D. Marcelino, who are both former members of the Philippine National Team.

Her brother was a gold medalist in the Asian Taekwondo Championships and her two sisters were both members of the national team.

Mrs. Marcelino started Taekwondo at the school owned by her family. Prior to joining Taekwondo, she enjoyed watching the children practice at their gym and often imitated their movements.
